How do I book a ticket for my Companion/PA?
Essential Companion tickets are intended for customers requiring additional support. This must be due to needs significant and in excess of what could be reasonably expected of family or friends already accompanying you.
Companions must be booked in advance during the booking process, when you purchase tickets for the exhibition. As companions are acting as a chaperone, they will not be offered a headset for the metaverse room.
To qualify for a Companion ticket, you will need to show one of the following forms of documentation upon arrival. Without this documentation we will be unable to honour the complimentary Companion/PA ticket.
Accepted forms of documentation include:
- Middle or Higher rate DLA for care and/or mobility.
- Personal Independence Payment (PIP) documentation.
- Evidence of being severely sight impaired.
- CredAbility Access Card with a “+1” category requirement.
- A recognised Assistance Dog ID card.
Please note that the guest requiring assistance must have a valid entry ticket. Documentation may not automatically award Essential Companion tickets for children under 16, as children are always required to be under the direct supervision of a responsible adult in our venues.
If the visitor is a child, to obtain a free Companion or PA ticket, there must be at least one full-priced General Admission ticket in the group.
Can I book a companion ticket alongside a Vesuvius Package Ticket?
A Companion Standard Ticket is available alongside all our ticket types. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer a Companion Vesuvius Package Ticket due to the number of additional inclusions it has.
(See FAQ: ‘How do I book a ticket for my Companion/PA?’ for more information).

The VR glasses were not developed to be used while operating this type of mobility aid within the experience.

What is The Last Days of Pompeii: The Immersive Exhibition like?
The Last Days of Pompeii: The Immersive Exhibition takes visitors on a journey through one of history's most dramatic moments, bringing the ancient city back to life before its sudden destruction.
Using state-of-the-art technology, visitors can explore the streets of Pompeii, step inside the Villa of the Mysteries, (one of the most well preserved suburban ancient Roman villas on the outskirts of Pompeii) witness the grandeur of the amphitheatre and experience the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. The exhibition combines immersive projections, virtual reality, a metaverse experience and a curated collection of artefacts to create a deeply engaging and educational visit.
What can I expect from each room inside The Last Days of Pompeii: The Immersive Exhibition?
Each area of the exhibition offers a different perspective on Pompeii:
- Immersive Hall – A stunning 360º projection that brings Pompeii's streets to life, showing daily life before the eruption and its eventual destruction.
- Virtual Reality Experience – An immersive journey that places visitors inside the Roman amphitheatre, experiencing Pompeian entertainment firsthand, from chariot races to gladiatorial battles.
- Metaverse Room – Visitors become avatars and explore the Villa of Mysteries, walking freely through its stunning frescoed rooms, gardens, and bathhouses.
- Scenic Built Area – A beautifully recreated peristyle garden, amphitheatre, and fountains, allowing visitors to physically enter a Roman environment.
- Artefacts Room – Displays a curated selection of artefacts from prestigious collections, including Roman glass, marble sculptures, and gladiatorial equipment. This area also features a Volcano Area, which explores the eruption's geological impact and presents the famous body casts of Pompeii's victims.
- The Archaeological Explorer Room - An interactive and educational dimension where visitors are encouraged to take on the role of an archaeologist, exploring interactive maps and uncovering concealed artefacts from digital sandpits.
- AI Photo Booth – Visitors can see themselves transformed into a Pompeian aristocrat before the eruption, with historically accurate attire and styling.
- Graffiti Station – Leave your own inscription, drawing or phrase, echoing the graffiti once scrawled across the walls of the city years ago.
- Soundtrack – The exhibition features an original soundtrack by composer and music producer René Merkelbach, recorded with a live orchestra, blending classical Roman-inspired compositions with cinematic scoring.
On average, visitors spend approximately 90 minutes exploring the full experience, depending on engagement levels in each section.
